For safety the 2008 SAAB 9 3 offers a new side curtain airbag has a larger, thick dampening surface. The keys of the 9 3 have rolling codes making it virtually impossible for anyone to copy the key code unauthorized. SAAB's traction controll system will distribute drive force to the wheel with the best grip, helping to reduce the risk of spinning the tires while accelerating on a slippery surface.

The front seats feature the second generation Saab Active Head Restraints.
